Artist Statement 1

For this project my theme revolved around love and time. I wanted to convey the idea that love and time are intertwined and how love changes over time. I hoped to show how love can be conveyed through time and how time affects love in different ways. I have had a decent amount of experience using photoshop in other classes before this project so I felt very confident in my abilities. I hadn’t used illustrator a lot before this project so I learned a lot by doing this project. I used the pen tool for most of my work in illustrator and experimented with using the curved pen tool to create curved shapes better. It took a lot of experimenting with it to figure out all the ins and outs of it but I really enjoyed the process. My idea didn’t really change from my original idea because I didn’t have a story behind my theme at the beginning. I didn’t want my zine to follow a story per say and took the route of creating a collective of images that just revolved around one theme. After seeing everyone else’s zines I wish I had developed more of a story behind the images I created because it would have had more of an impact. I used a bunch of little heart characters in my images and could have created a story around them and carried it throughout all of my images. Overall I was happy with the way my images came out and felt that I accomplished what I set out to do with my zine.
