The idea behind Net.art is really interesting. I had no idea that in the early days of the internet people were using it as a medium to create art instead of using it in the ways that we do now. Because it was so niche and people didn’t really know what to do with it, it became a haven for artists to explore a new way of creating art. Personally I don’t really feel that this art speaks to me or is all that interesting. However I do find the processes behind the art quite interesting as this form of internet art came from coders creating code that makes unique experiences. Jodi.org for example regurgitates the HTML code and displays it for you which I find really cool. I like how this site shows you the ins and outs of how this page is being generated. This to me is like dropping the curtain and giving the user a unique look into the inner workings of the internet. One of the other works that really got my attention in this reading was Irational.org. To me this was the most interactive piece and really took full advantage of the internet at the time. I really liked how interactive it was and how it bridged the gap between online and in-person art. The idea of having an internet art piece that interacts with tangible things in our world like the phone booths is really unique and allows people from all over the world to interact with something that may be thousands of miles away from them.
